Instructions for Speakers
All technical session rooms will be equipped with the
following:
- one large screen;
- one overhead projector;
- one LCD projector
One 35-mm slide projector is available for the entire conference and
must be booked in advance - e-mail info@csche2008.ca.
The conference will supply computers equipped with CD drives and USB
ports. Authors must bring their presentations on either a CD or a USB memory key (flash drive). No floppy
disk drives will be available for use on these computers. The computer will be running Windows XP with MS
Office 2003 and 2007, and Acrobat Reader 8.
MS Media Player will be loaded on the computers. However, authors running .avi movies should have already
consulted with the technical program administrator to confirm compatibility. Problems have occurred in the
past with different international editions of the software. Bringing the movie as a separate file is strongly
recommended.
No other software will be available for authors to use on the supplied
computers. In the event that authors wish to run other software, they will need to bring their own laptops to
the presentation.
Authors must bring their presentations on a CD or a USB memory key to
the room in which their presentation is being given to preload them on the presentation laptop before 09:30
for morning sessions or before 13:00 for afternoon sessions. Student volunteers will be available in all
session rooms to load the presentations starting at 09:00 in the morning and starting at 12:30 in the
afternoon. The volunteers should receive the presentations at least 30 minutes before the start of the
session.
Authors are free to use their own laptops for their presentations but
must ensure compatibility with the LCD projector prior to the start of their session.
Most presentations are 20 minutes in length—15 minutes of
presentation and 5 minutes for questions. Please check the schedule for the exact time and length of your
presentation.
Speaker Ready Room: There will be a speaker ready room with A/V equipment to preview your
presentation. Speakers are asked to check prior to the day of your session that your
presentation works with the supplied system.
