Conference Organizing Committee
Welcome to the Web site for the 58th Canadian Chemical
Engineering Conference to be held in Ottawa, Ontario, October 19-22, 2008.
The organizing committee has been working
hard to prepare a very good program for you to attend and get the most out of this conference. We are
hoping to see many Chemical Engineers from Academia, Industry and Government Agencies, as well as students
(both undergraduate and graduate) from Canada, United States and Overseas.
Undergraduate and Graduate
Students:You are welcome to take part in any of the
technical programs, as well as the special programs organized just for you, including the Career
Fair and on-site interviews with potential employers. Please check the welcome messages as well
as the technical and social programs organized for Undergraduate and Graduate Students,
separately.
Professionals:
Technical
Program: The Theme of the Conference is:
“Partnerships for a Sustainable Society”. Following 5 symposia have been organized, on top of the
regular technical sessions: Energy for a Sustainable Society, Materials for a Sustainable Society, Clean
Water - Clean Air – Clean Earth, Biotechnology, Partnerships: Policy and Research at the
Crossroads. I invite you to go over the technical program and submit your abstracts before the
June 9, 2008 deadline.
Career Fair and On-site
interviews: We are trying new “On-site
interviews” this year for employees and employers. These interviews will take place for students, as
well as professionals, so please submit your resumes before the Sept 22, 2008 deadline to be considered for
on-site interviews.
Social
Events: We have organized a Welcome Reception on Sunday
evening, a mixer with students and professionals in downtown Ottawa on Monday night after dinner, as well as
a wonderful Banquet to be held at the Canadian Museum of Civilization located along the banks of the
picturesque Ottawa River overlooking the Parliament with an IMAX movie entertainment. The banquet
fee is included with your early registration this year!
